Nowadays，more and more people own private cars. According to a recent survey conducted by CCTV, the past 5 years has wit-nessed a sharp increase in the number of private cars to an aston-ishing number of 175,280,000.
To account for this phenomenon, people have come up with vari-ous reasons listed below. To begin with, there has been great improve-ment in people’s living standards in the past decade. Thus, many peo-ple choose more comfortable means of traveling over bicycles or motor-cycles. What’s more，to enjoy in the open-air by short journey at week-ends is becoming a fashion especially among young people, which to a large extent stimulates a boom of private car.
However, private cars also sive rise to a number of problems. On the one hand，with so many cars running on street，traffic jams appeared and accident increased. On the other hand，people are start-ing to complain of the smoke and pollution given off by cars. (157 词）
