《希望英语》栏目开播于1999年6月18日，2001年7月9日进入中央电视台第十套节目科教频道。是由中央电视台社教节目中心教育专题部制作的以英语爱好者为收视对象的，休闲式的介绍英语语言文化的教育类栏目。栏目教授时尚的英语、生活的英语以及西方文化的表达。栏目突出“实用性、服务性、教学性”，本着“培养兴趣、增强信心、展示风采、树立榜样”的原则，教授生活时尚的英语以及原汁原味的西方文化。使观众在生动轻松的氛围中学习地道英语，了解真正的西方文化。
