[00:11.20]In 1861, the Civil War started 
[00:13.89]in the United States between the Northern and the Southern states. 
[00:19.36]The war continued with great bitterness until 1865, 
[00:24.48]when the Northerners were victorious.

[00:30.40]many Southerners have not forgotten their defeat, 
[00:33.81]or forgiven the Northerners.
[00:37.39]A few years ago, 
[00:39.30]a party of American tourists were going round
[00:42.50]one of the battlefields of the Civil War 
[00:45.27]with a guide who came from 
[00:47.90]one of the Southern states. 
[00:50.17]At each place, the guide told the tourists 
[00:53.91]stirring stories about how a few Southern soldiers 
[00:57.62]had conquered powerful forces of Northerners there.
[01:01.84]At last, one of the tourists, 
[01:05.90]a lady who came from the North, stopped the guide and said to him,

[01:14.39]at least one victory in the Civil War?"
