英语翻译技巧之“范畴词”的译法

范畴词

汉语命名中倾向于加范畴词，如 问题、状态、情况、工作，有时本身没有实质的意义，翻译时可以省去不译。
例：
总之，就全国范围来说，我们一定能够逐步顺利解决沿海同内地贫富差距的问题。

in short, taking the country as a whole, we are certainly able to settle the problem regarding the

the wealth gap between the coastal and hinterland areas gradually and smoothly.

改译： in short, taking the country as a whole, i am confident that we can gradually bridge the gap bewteen coastal and inland areas.

贫富差距的问题，如果直译为 the problem regarding the wealth gap 显然并没有错，但比较罗嗦，因为差距本身就是一个问题，因此在翻译中可将范畴词 问题 删除。

译文二考虑到前文（这是邓选中的）已经谈到贫富差距问题，因此又删除了wealth，仅保留了 the gap，意思仍然清楚。
