一群酒徒，望

酒徒们，走向村边

油灯像野火一样，映出

十几个生活在草原上的

泥色的脸

这里是我们的娱乐场，
here's our recreation center,
那些是多谙熟的而相，
such familiar faces,
我们拿起
we take up
热气蒸腾的牛骨
steaming hot joints of beef,
大开着嘴，咬着，咬着……

艾青诗集《透明的夜》赏析：
这首诗，不必一行一句地去解析，它的整体是透明的，袒露的，没有任何的阴翳，它一下子就亲热地贴近你的心灵。第一节只一行诗：透明的夜。一个巨大的魅惑人的意象的宇宙，一下子矗立在你的面前，你被它包容，不是模糊的远景，也不是闪烁的幻觉，是实实在在的真实的境界，你已置身其中：酒徒的阔笑，狗的吠声，醒的酒坊，野火一样的灯，血的气息，人的嚣喧，泥色的语言，血染的手臂和头颅，火一般的肌肉和里面的痛苦，忿怒和仇恨的力，夜的醒者，醉汉，流浪客，过路的盗，偷牛的贼……，向沉睡的原野哗然走去……，这些溅射着火和血的鲜活的形象，动态和语言，既陌生又新奇，每一行诗，每一个字都有血肉的跳动，发热发光。只有用这些新奇的短促的匕首一般的诗行才能深深刺入黑沉沉的旧中国的夜，创造出一个彩色的黎明。 （牛汉）
