风，
wind,
像一个太悲哀了的老妇，
like a grief-stricken old woman
紧紧地跟随着
closely following behind,
伸出寒冷的指爪
stretching out her icy claws,
拉扯着行人的衣襟
tugs at the travellers'clothes.
用着像土地一样古老的话
with words as old as the land,
一刻也不停地絮赌着……

那从林间出现的，
coming from the forests
赶着马车的
in horse-drawn carts,
你中国的农夫
you, there, farmers of china,
戴着皮帽
wearing fur hats，
冒着大雪
braving the blizzarc

我也是农人的后裔—

on the river of this snowy night,
一盏小油灯在徐缓地移行，
one small oil lamp drifts slowly
那破烂的乌篷船里
in a rickety boat with a black canopy.
映着灯光，垂着头
who sits in there
坐着的是谁呀?
in the lamplight , head bowed?
—啊，你
-ah, it's you，
蓬发垢而的少妇，
tousle-haired and grubby-faced young woman .
是不是
wasn't it
你的家
your home
—那幸福与温暖的巢穴—

已被暴庆的敌人

透过雪夜的草原
passing over the prairies in this snowy night,
那些被烽火所啮啃着的地域，
over regions chewed~场the beacons of war,
无数的，土地的垦植者
countless , the tillers of the virgin soil
失去了他们所饲养的家畜
lost, the animals they nurtured;
失去了他们肥沃的田地
lost,their fertile fields.
拥挤在
they crowd together
生活的绝望的污巷里:
in life's hopeless squalor;
饥谨的大地
on famine's earth，
朝向阴暗的天
gazing at the dark sky,
伸出乞援的
they reach out, trembling,
颤抖着的两臂。
and beg for succor.
中国的苦痛与灾难
oh, the pain and misery of china,
像这雪夜一样广阔而又漫长呀!
as long and vast as this snowy night!
