公路
Highway
像那些阿美利加人
Just like Americans
行走在加里福尼亚的大道上
Moving down a California road
我行走在中国西部高原的
I move down the high plateau of Western China
新辟的公路上
Can a newly opened highway
我从那隐蔽在群山的夹谷里的
I come from a valley nestled in a mountain range
一个卑微的小村庄里出来
A very humble little village
我从那阴暗的，迷蒙着柴烟的小瓦屋里出来
I come from a small, dismal , soot-covered, tile-roofed house
带着农民的耿直与痛苦的激情
With a farmer's forthrightness and the passion borne of suffering
奔上山去—
I rush up the mountain-
让空气与阳光
And let the air and the sunshine
和展开在山下的如海洋一样的旷野
And the open country spread out before me on the mountain like an ocean
拂去我的日常的烦琐
Brushing away my daily irritations
和生活的苦恼
As well as life's troubles,
也让无边的明朗的天的幅员
And I let the vast expanse of a limitlessly bright sky
以它的毫无阻碍的空阔
And its infinitely unobstmcted perspective
松懈我的长久被窒息的心啊……
Ease my oh so long suffocating heart.…
绵长的公路
The long ribbon of road
沿着山的形体
Follows the contours of the mountain
弯曲地，伏贴地向上伸引
Meandering snugly up the side, going up
人在山上慢慢地升高
People are climbing slowly up the mountain
漫慢地和下界远离
Graually distancing themselves from the world below.
行走在大气的环绕里
Walking through the upper reaches of the atmosphere
似乎飘浮在半空
Is like floating in mid-air
我们疲倦了
We are tired
可以在一颗古树的根上
At the base of an old tree，we could
坐下休息
Sit down and rest
听山涧从峻岩间
And listen to the mountain stream come crashing down
奔腾而下
From craggy cliffs
看鹰鹜与雕鸽
And watch the eagles and the hawks
呼叫着又飞翔着
Screech and sor
在我们的身边……
Near where we are standing.…
而背上负着煤袋的骡马队
A line of mules carrying sacks of coal on their backs,
由衣着槛褛的人们带引着
Led on by mule-drivers in tattered clothes,
由倦怠的喝叱和无力的鞭打指挥着
With lackadaisical "giddyaps" and lifeless cracks of the whip ,
凌乱地从这里过去
Passes raggedly by this way
又转进了一个幽僻山峡里去
And then turns into a forsaken mountain gorge.
我们可以随着它们的步伐
We could follow their steps
揣摹着在那山峡里和衰败的古庙相毗连
And imagine in this gorge, next to a crumbling old temple ,
有着一排制造着简陋的工业品的房屋
A row of houses where simple, mstic articles，crafted.
那些载重的卡车啊
Those trucks，so loaded down，
带着愉快的隆隆之声而来
Roll through with a cheerful rumble
车上的货物颠簸着
With the cargo in them jostling about
那些年轻的人们
Those young men
朝向我这步行者
Seeing me,a traveller on foot,
扬臂欢呼
Hail me and wave their amps
在这样的日子
On this kind of day
即使他们的振奋
Even though their impulses
和我的振奋不是来自同一的原由
And my impulses do not originate from the same source
我的心也在不可抑制地激动啊
My heart is also full of irrepressible buoyancy.
更有那些轻捷的汽车
And then there are the fleet automobiles
挣着从金属的反射
Glinting with flashes of 1ight off the chrome,
所投射出来的白光之翅
Sending out wings of white light,
陶醉在疾行的速度里
Exhilarated by the speed,
在山脉上
On the crest of the mountain
勇敢地飞驰
They fly past fearlessly ,
鼓舞了我的感情与想象
Enticing me, my feelings and my thoughts,
和它们比翼在空中
To soar with them into the sky.
于是
And so
我的灵魂得到了一次解放
My soul sensed at once a liberation
重新唤醒了
It is once more revived into
一个生命的崇高与骄傲—
A life of dignity and pride-
即使我是一颗蚂蚁
Even if I were an ant
或是一只有坚硬的翅膀的蚌蠕
Or a grasshopper with rigid wings
在这样的路上爬行或飞翔
To crawl up or to fly down this of road
也是最幸福的啊……
Would be the utmost joy…
今天，我穿着草鞋
Today, I wear straw sandals，
戴着麦秆编的凉帽
A cool, rattan-weave sun-hat on my head
行走在新辟的公路上
Walking on this newly opened highway
我的心因为追踪自由
My heart following its bent
而感到无限地愉悦啊
And sensing a limitless joy
铺呈在我的前而的道路
The road stretched out before me
是多么宽阔!多么平坦!
Is so broad，so smooth,
多么没有羁绊地自如地
Io independent and without obstruction,
向远方伸展—
Leading off into the distance-
我们可以清楚地看见
We can see it clearly
它向天的边际蜿蜒地远去
Wriggling its way to the edge of heaven
那么豪壮地络住了地而
Heroically battening down the landscape.
当我在这里向四周凝望
Fmm my spot, I gaze off in all directions and see
河流，山丘，道路，村舍
Rivers , hillocks , roads , houses ,
和随处都成了美丽的严丛的树林
And here and there a beautiful cluster of trees，
无比调谐地浮现在大气里
All blending and melding in, incomparably, with the atmosphere
竟使我如此明显地感到
In the end, I have this manifest feeling,
我是站在地的巅顶
That I am standing on the summit of the world

艾青诗集《公路》赏析：
初看题目《公路》，以为是写一条公路，其实不然，公路只是一个“晃子”，只不过是借以表达“我”的生存状态而已.由小路引出一条不知何故在中途停工的公路;路边一所学校,平常司空见惯的现场，殊不知由此埋下一个象征物，这是诗人的匠心所在.此时一定不会知道，那是你在将这整首读完以后，才恍然大悟.当然，其过程丰富而复杂——有人说哲学是将复杂的事物说简单；而诗歌则是将简单的事物说复杂，这是一家之说，但仔细想想，也不无道理。
