(10) A Moonlit Night In The Mountains
Liu Yin (1240-1293)
刘因
So full of gloomy thoughts, I'm desolate and drear;
At dead of night I face the empty mountains high.
The cliffs are whitened by the frost of autumn clear;
The moon emerges above the clouds flooding the sky.
The rocky valley echoes with my stirring strain;
My shadow trembles in the stream studd'd with starlight.
Drunken, I seem to hear the ape say to the crane:
For hundred years the world's not so fair as tonight!
