The northern beauty is sixteen,
燕京女儿十六七，
With rosy face and eyebrows green.
颜如花红眼如漆。
The road is fragrant with her steed;
兰香满路马尘飞，
Short whip in hand, she rides with speed.
崔修短鞭娇欲滴。
In vernal breeze vernal heart swings;
春风澹荡摇春心，
In candle-lit hall no lute sings.
银筝华烛高堂深。
Her broidered quilt can't warm her dreams;
绣衾不暖锦鸳梦，
'Neath misty sky no curtain gleams.
紫帘垂雾天沉沉。
Years pass like water, who would care?
芳年谁惜去如水，
She is too tired to comb her hair.
春困着人倦梳洗。
Last night the streets were wet with rain;
夜来小雨润天街，
The willow down can't waft again.
满院杨花飞不起。
