bai pu(1226-1306) styled himself renfu or taisu, with alias mr. langu. he was a native of yuzhou (now the hequ county, shanxi province). bai pu ranks among " the four master dramatists of the yuan dynasty" with guan hanqin, ma zhiyuan and zheng guangzu. he wrote sixteen plays, now three extant. over thirty short lyrics and four sequences of qu poems are found to his credit with a style of simplicity and fresh.
