Teng Bin styled himself Yuxiao, and was born in Huanggang (belonging to today's Hubei Province). In the Zhida Period of the Reign of Wu Emperor of the Yuan Dynasty, he was appointed minister of education of Jiangxi Province as an imperial scholar. Later he became a Taoist monk in Mount Tiantai, abandoing his family. His Sanqu poems are mainly depictions of objects and observations of society.
滕斌 一名宾，字玉霄，黄冈（今属湖北）人。武宗至大年间，任翰林学士、江西儒学提举。后弃家入天台山为道士。作曲多为咏物观世之作。

In the evening it is cold,
晚天凉，
The south wind gently blows.
熏风细。
The floating clouds darkly unfold,
浮云黯淡，
Vast and misty, the distant water flows.
远水茫微。
The river is limpidly clean.
江水清，
The hills afar are green.
遥山碧。
Gladly I sail alone in the Xiaoxiang lake,
喜驾孤舟潇湘内，
With a mantle over shoulders, and a fishing pole I shake.
伴纶竿箬笠蓑衣。
Shutting the willows boughs past,
垂杨树底，
And through the weed's flowers.
芦花影里。
Oh, back I am at last!
归去来兮。
