Ren Yu styled Zeming, was born in Siming (today's Sheng County of Zhejiang Province and nearby). Fifty-nine of his short lyrics and a song sequence have survived, most of which are about the landscape of West Lake and his idle sentiments. The style of his poetry is one of gracefulness and lightness.
任昱 字则明，四明（今浙江嵊县一带）人。散曲现存小令五十九首，套数一篇，多咏西湖景物和抒写闲情，风格秀淡。

清江引·钱塘怀古
In the Wu and Yue states mountains and waters that appear
吴山越山山下水，
And suggest a feeling so sad and drear,
总是凄凉意，
The flowing rivers are the flow of grief present and past,
江流今古愁，
The rain over mountains is but the tears for the state outcast.
山雨兴亡泪，
Only gulls free, laughing at men fully occupied with a life overcast.
沙鸥笑人闲未得。
