Ren Yu styled Zeming, was born in Siming (today's Sheng County of Zhejiang Province and nearby). Fifty-nine of his short lyrics and a song sequence have survived, most of which are about the landscape of West Lake and his idle sentiments. The style of his poetry is one of gracefulness and lightness.
任昱 字则明，四明（今浙江嵊县一带）人。散曲现存小令五十九首，套数一篇，多咏西湖景物和抒写闲情，风格秀淡。

Peonies fade and die in the courtyard dark and deep,
深沉院落牡丹残，

懒揭珠帘看，
The aprico garden is no longer music and songs to keep.
青杏园林管弦散。
In the shade of the trees green,
翠阴间，
Orioles chiro, seeming worried for the passage of spring.
数声黄鸟伤春叹。
Still upsetting me are the parting feelings so strong,
离怀未安，
I bear not this lovesickness for long,
相思不惯，
Alone, standing by the low balustrade with head hung.
