Ren Yu styled Zeming, was born in Siming (today's Sheng County of Zhejiang Province and nearby). Fifty-nine of his short lyrics and a song sequence have survived, most of which are about the landscape of West Lake and his idle sentiments. The style of his poetry is one of gracefulness and lightness.
任昱 字则明，四明（今浙江嵊县一带）人。散曲现存小令五十九首，套数一篇，多咏西湖景物和抒写闲情，风格秀淡。

阅金经·重到湖上
Temples upon temples are seen above the blue lake water;
碧水寺边寺，
Towers upon towers are vaguely visible in the green poplar.
绿杨楼外楼，
Leisurely I watch the green hills and clouds fly on high,
闲看青山云去留。
Like a water bird, I,
鸥，
Up and down following the fishing boat, fly.
飘飘随钓舟。
What is now is not what was then,
今非旧，
I'd rather be given to drink appreciating flowers nearby.
对花一醉休。
