Li Zhiyuan about whose life little is known, and he stayed in Liyang (belonging to today's Jiangsu Probvince) in the Zhiyuan Period in the Reign of Shizu Emperor of Yuan dynasty, and associated with Qiu Yuan. Twenty-six short lyrics and four song sequences of his have been survived.
李致远 世祖至元中客溧阳（今属江苏），曾与仇远交游，生平不详。存世散曲有小令二十六首，套数四套。

Deep is the courtyard where poplar and willows are dimly seen,
杨柳深深小院，
The cuckoo birds are calling amid the gentle light of the setting sun.
夕阳淡淡啼鹃，
It is a right day for selling sweets in the lanes in the wind of spring.
巷陌东风卖饧天。
To spend this religious day I leave my needle-work undone.
才社日停针线，
I play with the swings now on this another festival day,
又寒食戏秋千，
Seeming to forget the spring sadness that is gone far away.
一春幽恨远。
