Someone Had a Talk with Lord Mengchang
【原文】
谓薛公曰广周（最）于齐王也[厚]而逐之。听祝弗相吕礼者， 欲取秦。秦、齐合，弗与礼重矣。有周，齐、秦必轻君。君弗如急北兵， 趋赵以和秦、魏，收周（最）以为后行。且反齐王之信，乂禁天下之 率。齐无秦，天下果，弗必走，齐王谁与为其国？”
【今译】
有人游说孟尝君说：“虽然周（最）跟齐王的关系密切，他还是 被驱逐了&齐王听信祝弗的建议任用吕礼为相国，是想拉拢秦国。秦 国跟齐国联合起来，祝弗和吕礼就会受到重用了。他们被重用了，齐国 和秦国就一定会轻视您，您不如赶快派兵北上，促使赵国跟秦国和魏 国联合，收买周（最）作为后援，这样一来，秦国就会背弃跟齐王的 盟约，又能防止天下各国发生变故。齐国失去秦国的支持，天下各国就 会图谋它，祝弗必定会逃走。除了您，齐王还会任用谁来治理国家呢？”
Someone had a talk with Lord Mengchang. He said, “Even a person like Zhou Ju was dismissed from office by the king of the state of Qi. The king took Zhu Fu?s advice to appoint Lu Li to be prime minister because he was planning to hook in the state of Qin. If the states of Qin and Qi establish good relationship with each other，Zhu Fu and Lli Li will become extremely powerful, and then Qin will look down upon you. It would be better if you send troops northwards to urge the state of Zhao to unite with the states of Qin and Wei. You could also buy off Zhou Ju and use him as your own backup. As a result, Qin will break the agreement signed with Qi and stop other states from establishing diplomatic relations with Qi. If Qi loses the support of Qin，other states will conspire against it too. Accordingly, Zhu Fu will be sent away. Except you, whom can the king of Qi use to administer his state?”
