谓周（最）曰仇赫之相宋
Someone Had a Talk with Zhou Ju Regarding Appointing Qiu He to be Prime Minister of Song
【原文】
谓周（最）曰：“仇赫之相宋，将以观秦之应赵、宋，败三国。三国不败，将兴赵、宋合于东方以孤秦。亦将观韩、魏之于齐也。不固，则 将与宋败三国，则卖赵、宋于三国。公何不令人谓韩、魏之王曰广欲秦、 赵之相卖乎？何不合周（最）兼相，视之不可离？则秦、赵必相卖以 合于王也。’”
【今译】
有人对周（最）说广仇赫做宋国相国的目的，就是要观察秦国是否能跟赵国和宋国联合击敗韩国、魏国与齐国。如果这三个国家不 能被击敗，他就将鼓动赵国和宋国跟东方的这三个国家联合来孤立秦 国。他同时也将观察韩国、魏国与齐国之间的关系。如果关系不牢固， 他就将用宋国击敗这三个国家；如果牢固，他就会把赵国和宋国出卖给 这三个国家。您何不派人对韩国和魏囯的君主说：‘想让秦国和赵国互 相出卖吗？何不让周（最）同时任你们两国的相国来表明你们不可 分离？那样一来，秦国和赵国一定会互相出卖并争相与大王交好。’”

He said, “The reason why Qiu He has accepted the position as prime minister of the state of Song lies in the fact that he wants to observe the state of Qin，s reaction to the states of Song and Zhao to see whether or not Qin will be able to support them to defeat the three slates of Han, Wet and Qi. If these three sstates cannot be defeated, he will encourage Zhao and Song to unite with these three eastern states and then isolate Qin, He will also observe the relationship among these three states. If it is not well established and is unstable，he will persuade Song to defeat these three states. If the relationship is well established and firm enough，he will betray Zhao and Song to these three states. You can send a messenger to inform the sovereigns of both Han and Wei as follows： ‘Do you want the states of Qin and Zhao to betray each other? If you do, why not appoint Zhou Ju to be prime minister of both of your states to show that the states of Han and Wei are very close and inseparable? Then Qin and Zhao will betray each other and vie with each other to establish good relations with you. ”
