为周（最）谓魏王
Someone Had a Talk with Wei's King on Zhou Ju's Behalf
【原文】
为周（最）谓魏王曰：“秦知赵之难与齐战也，将恐齐、赵之合 也，必阴劲之。赵不敢战，恐秦不己收也，先合于齐。秦、赵争齐而王无人焉，不可。王不去周（最），合与收齐，而以兵之急则伐齐，无因事 也."
【今译】
有人替周（最）对魏王说秦国知道难以让赵国跟齐国交战， 又担心齐国和赵国会联合起来，所以一定会暗中加强赵国的力量。起 国不敢开战，是担心秦国不能真正支持自己，于是就先跟齐国联合。秦国和赵国竞相跟齐国结交，大王就没有盟国了，这可不行。大王不如派 周（最）去联合并拉拢齐国。与其急忙派兵攻打齐国，还不如趁机 跟它结交呢。”
Someone had a talk with the king of the state of Wei on Zhou Ju?s behalf. He said, uThe state of Qin knows that it is very difficult to make the states of Zhao and Qi engage in war. It is also afraid that Qi and Zhao might unite with each other to act against it. So，Qin will strengthen Zhao secretly. Zhao dares not launch military action against Qi because it worries that Qin might nol really support it. So it focuses on establishing good relations with Qi first. If Qin and Zhao vie with each other to ally with Qi, you will be isolated. You should stop that from happening at all costs. You’d better send Zhou Ju to Qi to win it over. It would be better if you take occasion to ally with Qi rather than taking immediate military action against it, ”
