秦惠王谓寒泉子
King Hui of Qin Had a Talk with Han Quanzi
【原文】
秦惠王:谓寒泉子曰：“苏秦欺寡人，欲以-人之智，反覆山东之君，从以欺秦。赵间负其众，故先使苏秦以币帛约乎诸侯。诸侯不可一，犹 连鸡之不能俱止于柄（之）[亦]明矣。寡人忿然，含怒日久，吾欲使武安 子起往喻意焉广寒泉子曰:“不可。夫攻城堕邑，请使武安子；善我闰 家，使诸侯，请使客卿张仪秦惠王敬受命。”
【今译】
秦惠王对寒泉子说：“苏秦欺负我，想凭借他一个人的智慧，策动山东六国联合起来对付我秦国。赵国肯定倚仗自己人多势众，所以先派 苏秦带着财物和锦缎去联合各国诸侯。诸侯们的心思不会完全一致， 如同用绳子拴在一起的鸡不能都老老实实地呆在鸡舍里一样，这是很 明显的。我很愤怒，已经生了好长时间的气了，我打算派白起前往山东 各国向它们表明我的意思。”寒泉子说不可以这么做。至于攻陷别国 的城邑这样的事情，可以安排白起去做。要让诸侯各国对我们秦囯友 善，请派我们的客卿张仪。”秦惠王说我将按照您的意思去做。“
King Hui of the state of Qin had a talk with Han Quanzi. He said, “Su Qin has cheated me. Now he is trying to unite with all the states located east of Mount Xiao to counteract my state. Counting on its huge population and tremendous savings, the state of Zhao has sent Su Qin with money and fine silk to ally with other states. Apparently, the sovereigns of these states cannot be of one mind, just as hens bound together by a rope will not stay peacefully in the coop, I am very angry, and have been dissatisfied with these states for a long time. Now I am going to send Bai Qi to these states to give them a piece of my mind.” Han Quanzi said, “You should not send Bai Qi there. If you want to attack other states and occupy their land，please appoint Bai Qi to do so. If you want other states to establish friendly relations with us，please send Zhang Yi, our high-ranking guest court official, there. ”King Hui said,“I will do as you suggested. ”
