【原文】
楚攻魏。张仪谓秦王曰广不如与魏以劲之.魏战胜，复听于秦，必人西河之外；不胜，魏不能守，王必取之。”王用仪言，取皮氏卒万人，车白乘，犀首战威王，恐畏秦，果献西河之外。
【今译】
楚国进攻魏国.张仪对秦王说：“不如帮助魏国壮大它的兵力。魏国取得胜利，就会听命于秦国，一定会进献西河以外的土地给我们；如 果不能取胜，魏国就不能固守了，大王一定能夺取它.”秦王采纳了张仪 的建议，派皮氏的一万名士卒、一百辆战车来援助魏国。魏国大将犀首 战胜了楚威王的军队，但魏国军队筋疲力尽，害怕秦国图谋魏国，果然 进献西河以外的领土。
