Qin Seized Hanzhong from Chu
【原文】
秦取楚汉中，再战于蓝田，大败楚军。韩、魏闻楚之困，乃南袭至 邓，楚王引归。后三国谋攻楚，恐秦之救也，或说薛公广可发使告楚曰： ‘今三国之兵且去楚，楚能应而共攻秦，虽蓝田岂难得哉！况于楚之故 地？’楚疑于秦之未必救己也，而今三国之辞（去）[云]，则楚之应之也必 劝，是楚与三国谋出秦兵矣。秦为知之，必不救也。三国疾攻楚，楚必走秦以急，秦愈不敢出。则是我离秦而攻楚也，兵必有功
【今译】
秦国占领了楚国的汉中，又在蓝田开战，严重挫敗楚国军队v韩国 和魏国听说楚国被击敗，就从南面袭击楚国，一直攻打到邓邑，楚王撤 回军队。之后韩国、齐国和魏国谋划攻打楚国，担心秦国会营救楚国。 有人游说薛公田文说广可以派一个使者告诉楚国说："如今三国联军即 将撤离楚国，如果楚国能应允一起进攻秦国，即使是蓝田也不难收复啊！何况以前属于楚国后来又被别国占领的地区？’楚国怀疑秦国未必 一定援救自己，而如今三国军队声称要撤离，邵楚国一定会欣然同意跟 它们联合进攻秦国。这样一来，楚国就跟这三个国家一起谋划出兵进攻秦国了 .秦国知道了，一定不会营救楚国.三国军队迅速攻打楚国，楚国吃紧了一定会投靠秦国，秦国就更加怀疑它而不敢出兵了。这样 我们就可以离间楚国跟秦国的关系而攻打楚国，出兵定能建立战功。”
The state of Qin occupied the area of Hanzhong of the state of Chu. Then the troops of Qin launched an attack on the troops of Chu again in Lantian and defeated them very badly. The states of Han and Wei took occasion to encroach on the territory of Chu from the south and their allied forces soon approached the county of Deng. The king of Chu had to order his troops to retreat from Lantian. After that, three states—Qi，Han and Wei—planned to attack Chu together. However，they feared that Qin might come to Chu's rescue. Someone had a talk with Tian Wen, also known as the lord of the area of Xue, and said, “You can send an emissary to tell Chu, ‘Now the allied forces of our three states will retreat from Chu. If you agree to join us in attacking Qin, surely you can easily reoccupy the area of Lantian. Needless to say, you will take back the territory ceded to other states as well, J Chu has been doubting that Qin might send troops to rescue it. Now if the three states announce that they are about to withdraw their allied forces, surely it will willingly agree to join them in attacking Qin- So Chu is conspiring against Qin along with these three states. If Qin knows this, it will definitely refuse to send troops for Chu y s reinforcement.Then our three states can launch an attack on Chu immediately. Chu will definitely ask Qin for help due to its critical situation. However, Qin will become more distrustful towards Chu and therefore won’t dispatch troops for Chu? s rescue. Thus we can cast a bone between Qin and Chu, Then we can take military action against Chu, which will surely lead to a great victory.，，

薛公曰善遂发重使之楚，楚之应之果劝。于是三国并力攻楚， 楚果告急于秦，秦遂不敢出兵。大臣有功。
【今译】
薛公说广好。”于是派重要的使臣到楚国去，楚国果然欣然同意。 于是韩国、齐国和魏国齐心协力攻打楚国，楚国果然向秦国告急求援， 秦国最终不敢派兵营救.三国大获全胜，立下战功.
The lord of Xue said, “Good idea.” Then he sent an important emissary to inform Chu about joining the allied forces to attack Qin. Chu agreed as expected. Then the three states launched a concerted attack on Chu with horse and foot. Chu asked Qin for help，but Qin didn’t dare commit its troops. The allied forces defeated Chu badly and gained a great victory.
