楚使者景鲤在秦
Jing Li，an Emissary from Chu，Stayed in Qin
【原文】
楚使者景鲤在秦，从秦王与魏王遇于境。楚怒，秦（合）[令]周（最） [取](为）[谓]楚王曰魏请无与楚遇而合于秦，是以鲤与之遇也。弊 邑之于与遇善之，故齐不合也。”楚王因不罪景鲤而德周、秦。
【今译】
楚国使者景鯉在秦国随从秦王参加了跟魏王在边境上举行的会 晤，因此楚王很愤怒。秦国让周（最）[珉]对楚王说魏国要求不跟楚 王会晤而跟齐国和秦国联合，因此才让景鲤参加会晤。鄙国对于参加 会晤的成员很是友好，所以齐国不跟秦国联合了（因为怀疑楚国和秦国 交好）/’因此楚王不怪罪景鲤，而且很感激周（最>[杲]和秦国。
Jing Li，an emissary from the state of Chu，was in the state of Qin. He accompanied the king of Qin and participated in the meeting between the kings of the states of Qin and Wei held at the border of these two states. Chu was angry with him. Qin had Zhou Ju send a message to the king of Chu as follows； “The state of Wei wouldn’t meet with the king of Chu but wanted to unite with the states of Qi and Qin. Therefore，the king of Qin arranged for Jing Li to attend this meeting. We have treated every participant very well. As a result, Qi thought that Qin and Chu have established a very close relationship with each other. So Qi refused to ally with Qin. ” For this reason，the king of Chu not only didn’t blame Jing Li,but also was very grateful to Zhou Ju and the state of Qin.
