Tian Ji Fled from Qi and Went to Chu
田忌亡齐而之楚
Tian Ji fled from the slate of Qi and went to the state of Chu, Then Zou Ji took his place to be the new prime minister of the state of Qi. However, Zou Ji feared that Tian Ji might enlist the power of the state of Chu and return to the state of Qi, Du He said, “Please allow me to have him stay in Chu. ” Du He had a talk with the king of the state of Chu and said, “The reason why Zou Ji is not friendly to the state of Chu is that he fears that Tian Ji might go back to the state of Qi with the help of your state. Your Majesty, it would be better if you confer Jingnan on Tian Ji to show that Tian Ji won，t return to Qi. As a result, Zou Ji will lead the state of Qi to act favourably toward you. As for Tian Ji, he is a refugee. If he is conferred some land, he will be very grateful to Your Majesty. If he may return to Qi later, he certainly will lead the state of Qt to submit to you. This is the best way to employ these two men. ” The king of Chu conferred Jiangnan on Tian Ji as expected.

田总亡齐而之楚，邹忌代之相齐，恐田忌欲以楚权复于齐。杜赫 曰广K请为留楚,谓楚王曰：“邹忌所以不善楚者，恐田忌之以楚权复 于齐也n王不如封田忌于江南，以示田忌之不返齐也，郎忌[必]以齐厚 事楚，田忌，亡人也，而得封，必德王。若复于齐，必以齐事楚。此用二 忌之道也.”楚果封之于江南.
【今译】
田忌从齐国逃亡后来到楚国，邹忌取代他做了齐国的相国。他担 心田忌凭借楚国的势力再返回齐国。杜赫说我有办法让他留在楚 国。”杜赫对楚王说邹忌之所以跟楚国不友好，是因为担心田忌凭借 着楚国的势力返回齐国的缘故。大王不如把田忌分封在江南，来表明 田忌不会返回齐国了。邹忌会用齐国重重报答楚国。田忌是个逃亡在 外的人，而得到封地，一定会感激大王。假如他返回齐国，定会用齐国侍 奉楚国。这是利用这两个忌的好办法啊。”楚果然把田忌分封在江南。
