齐负郭之民有孤狐晅者，正议，闵王新之檀衢，百姓不附。齐孙室 子陈举直言，杀之东闾，宗族离心；司马穰苴，为政者也，杀之，大臣不 亲。以故燕举兵，使昌国君将而击之。齐使向子将而应之。齐军破，向 子以舆一乘亡。达子收余卒，复振，与燕战，求所以偿者，闵王不肯与， 军破走。
【今译】
靠近齐都城墙居住着一个叫狐喧的人，他直言不讳地议论政事，所 以齐闵王在檀衢欲了他的头，老百姓很不服气；齐王室子弟陈举说话率 直，在东门被杀，宗族之间离心离德；司马穰苴执掌政事，也被处死了， 大臣们都不亲近齐闵王了。因为这一原因，燕国起兵，任用昌国君率领 军队进攻齐国。齐闵王让向子率领军队迎击燕军。齐国军队被击溃， 向子驾着一辆战车逃跑了。达子收拾残兵敗将，重新起兵，跟燕国军队 作战，请求一些钱财用来犒赏士卒，齐闵王不肯给他。齐军被击敗，达 子逃亡。
A Man Named Hu Xuan Lived near the Protective Wall of the Capital of Qi
【原文】
王奔莒，淖齿数之曰夫千乘、博昌之间，方数百里，雨血沾衣，王知之乎？ ”王曰：“不知。”“贏、博之间，地坼至泉，王知之乎？ ”王曰不 知。”“人有当阙而哭者，求之则不得，去之则闻其声，王知之乎？ ”王曰： “不知。”淖齿曰：“天雨血沾衣者，天以告也；地坼至泉者，地以告也；人 有当阙而哭者，人以告也。天地人皆以告矣，而王不知戒焉，何得无诛 乎？”于是杀闵王于鼓里。

齐闵王逃往莒国.淖齿数落他说千乘与博昌之间方圓几百里的地方，天上下血雨淋湿人们的衣服，大王知道这事吗？”齐闵王说不知 道,“嬴与博之间，大地开裂，直达地下的泉水，大王知道这事吗？”齐闵 王说不知道。”“有人在国都门楼前哭泣，过去寻找却找不到人，离开 却能听到他的哭声，大王知道这事吗？”齐闵王说不知道。”淖齿说: “上天下血雨淋湿人们的衣服，是上天以此警告；大地开裂，直达地下的 泉水，是大地以此警告；有人在门楼前哭泣，是人以此警告。天、地、人 都发出警告了，而大王却不知道收敛，怎能不被诛杀呢？”于是在鼓里把 齐闵王杀死了.
A man named Hu Xuan lived near the protective wall of the capital of the state of Qi, He always remonstrated with King Min of Qi bluntly regarding government affairs. King Min beheaded him in the Tanqu Street. The people considered this unjust, Chen Ju, a member of the royal family of the state of Qi，was straightforward in expressing h'us opinions. As a result, he was sentenced to death at the Eastern Gate of the capital. Thus the royal family was no longer of one mind. Sima Rangju was in charge of administering the state. He was killed as well. Court officials didn’t feel close to King Min any more. Due to these events, the state of Yan dispatched troops to invade Qi. Lord Changguo was designated as Commander-in-Chief. King Min appointed Xiangzi to command the troops of Qi to confront the enemy troops. The troops of Qi suffered a debacle. General Xiangzi took a chariot and escaped. But Dazi reassembled the remnants of the defeated army and confronted the troops of Yan again. Dazi asked for some money to reward his officers and men. But King Min refused. The troops of Qi were defeated again and Dazi escaped.

太子乃解衣免服，逃太史之家，为溉园。君王后，太史氏女，知其贵 人，善事之。田单以即墨之城、破亡余卒，破燕兵，绐骑劫，遂以复齐。遽迎太子于莒，立之以为王.襄王即位，君王后以为后，生齐王建。

于是齐国的太子脱下衣服、摘掉饰物，逃到太史家里，为他们浇灌 园子.君王后是太史家的女儿，知道太子是个显责的人，就善待他。田 单凭借着即墨城和残兵敗将击敗了燕国的军队，对燕将骑劫设下骗局， 终于收复了齐国.立即到莒国去迎接太子，立他为王。齐裏王即位，立君王后为王后，生下齐王建。

King Min said, “Mo，I have not.” Zhuo Chi said, u Heaven warned you by raining blood which soaked people’s clothes. Earth warned you by making the earth crack whose crevice reached the underground water. The man warned you by crying in front of the watch tower. However, you haven’t improved your behaviour. Don’t you deserve to be sentenced to death?” Then he beheaded King Min in the Guli Street.
The crown prince of Qi took off his robes and decorations. Then he escaped to the Tai Shi’s and watered the garden for the family. Jun Wanghou was the daughter of the Tai Shi. She realized that this young man might have a powerful and honourable background, so she treated him very well. Relying on the city of Jimo and the remnants of the defeated army of the state of Qi, Tian Dan defeated the troops of the state of Yan，outwitted Qi Jie, the general of Yan，with trickery and thus re-established the state of Qi. Shortly after that, he went to the state of Ju to fetch the crown prince and designated him to be the new king. After King Xiang came into power, he appointed Jun Wanghou to be queen.
