The War in Pu
【原文】
濮上之事，赘子死，章子走。盼子谓齐王曰不如易余粮于宋，宋 王必说，梁氏不敢过宋伐齐。齐固弱，是以余粮收宋也。齐国复强，虽复责之宋，可；不偿，因以为辞而攻之，亦可。”
【今译】
濮上战役中，赘子丧生，匡章出逃。盼子对齐王说：“不如把我们的 余粮转移到宋国，宋王一定会很高兴，魏国军队就不敢穿过宋国來攻打齐国。如果齐国被削弱，我们就用余粮来收买宋国，如果齐国再度强 大起来，即便我们再向宋国索要粮食，也是可以的；如果宋国不还给我 们，趁机以此为借口进攻它，也是可以的
During the war in Pu, Zhuizi lost his life and Kuang Zhang escaped. Panzi had a talk with the king of the state of Qi and said, “We，d better present our surplus grain to the state of Song. Then the king of Song will definitely be very happy with us. As a result，the troops of the state of Wei won’t dare march through Song to attack our state. If Qi weakens, we can win over Song with our surplus grain. If Qi becomes strong again，it will be possible for us to ask Song to return our grain. If Song refuses to do so，we can u'se this as a subterfuge to attack it. ”
