Zhai Qiang, the Prime Minister of Wei，Died
【原文】
魏相翟强死.为甘茂谓楚王曰魏之几相者，公子劲也。劲也相 魏，魏、秦之交必善。秦、魏之交完，则楚轻矣，故王不如与齐约，相甘 茂于魏。齐王好髙人以名.今为其行人请魏之相，齐必喜。魏氏不听， 交恶于齐，齐、魏之交恶，必争事楚；魏氏听，甘茂与樗里疾，贸首之仇 也，而魏、秦之交必恶，又交重楚也
【今译】
魏国的相国翟强死了。有人为甘茂对楚王说广最有可能做魏国相 国的是公子劲。公子劲做魏国的相国，魏国跟秦国的关系一定会非常 亲善D秦国和魏国的关系好了，楚国的地位就轻了。所以大王不如跟 齐国约定，让甘茂做魏国的相国^夺王喜欢博得比别人高的名声，如今 为他的使者请求做魏国的相国，齐王必定很高兴。如果魏国不听，跟齐 国的关系就会恶化。齐国和魏国的关系恶化，必定会争相结交楚国。 如果魏国听从了，甘茂跟樗里疾是不共戴天的仇人，从而魏国跟秦国的关系必定会恶化，也会争相结交楚国
Zhai Qiang,the prime minister of the state of Wei,died. On Gan Mao’s behalf, someone had a talk with the king of the state of Chu and said，“Childe Jin has the highest possibility of being appointed as the new prime minister of the state of Wei, If he becomes the new prime minister of Wei, the relationship between the state of Wei and the state of Qin will become very good. If this is the case, your state will become less influential. It would be better if Your Majesty make an agreement with the state of Qi to designate Gan Mao to be the new prime minister of Wei. The king of Qi cannot have enough good reputation. If you ask for the position of prime minister of Wei for his emissary ( referring to Gan Mao) , he will be very happy. If Wei doesn’t take your advice, it will hurt its relations with Qi. If the relationship between Qi and Wei deteriorates, both of them will vie with each other to establish ties with Chu. Gan Mao and Chu Liji are absolutely irreconcilable enemies. If Wei takes this advice， the relat onship between Wei and Qin will definitely deteriorate. As a result, these two states will vie with each other to win over Chu too."
