Qin Defeated Chu in Hanzhong
【原文】
秦败楚汉中.楚王人秦，秦王留之。游腾为楚谓秦王曰王挟楚 王而与天下攻楚，则伤行矣；不与天下共攻之，则失利矣。王不如与之 盟而归之。楚王畏，必不敢倍盟。王因与三国攻之，义也
【今译】
秦国军队在汉中击敗了楚军。楚王来到秦国，秦王扣押了他。游 膝为楚国对秦王说大王劫持楚王并且联合天下各国进攻楚国，是有 伤自己德行的；不与夭下各国一起进攻楚国，就会失掉利益。大王不如 跟楚王结盟并且放他回国。楚王很畏惧大王，必定不敢背弃盟约。（如 果他背信弃义，）大王趁机联合其他三个国家进攻他，就名正言顺了。”
The troops of the state of Qin defeated those of Chu in Hanzhong, The king of Chu went to Qin, The king of Qin arrested him. On behalf of the state of Chu，You Teng had a talk with the king of the state of Qin and said，“Now if Your Majesty detain the king of Chu and unite with other states in the world to attack Chu, your reputation will be damaged. If you don’t join other states in attacking it，you will miss a great opportunity. It would be better if Your Majesty make an agreement with the king of Chu and then send him back. Since he fears you，surely he dares not breach the agreement. If he breaches the agreement,it will be righteous for you to unite with the other three states to attack him, ”
