张仪逐惠施于魏
Zhang Yi Drove Hui Shi Out of the State of Wei
【原文】
张仪逐惠施于魏。惠子之楚，楚王受之.
【今译】
张仪把惠施驱逐出了魏国,惠施来到楚国，楚怀王收留了他。
Zhang Yi drove Hui Shi out of the state of Wei, Hui Shi went to Chu and the king of Chu accepted him.
【原文】
冯郝谓楚王曰逐惠子者，张仪也。而王亲与约，是欺仪也，臣为 王弗取也。惠子为仪者来，而恶王之交于张仪，惠子必弗行也。且宋王 之贤惠子也，天下莫不闻也；今之不善张仪也，天下莫不知也。今为事 之故，弃所贵于仇人，臣以为大王轻矣。且为事耶？王不如举惠子而纳 之于宋，而谓张仪曰：4请为子勿纳也。’仪必德王。而惠子穷人，而王奉 之，又必德王。此不失为仪之实，而可以德惠子。”楚王曰广善。”乃奉惠 子而纳之宋。
【今译】
冯郝对楚怀王说驱逐惠施的是张仪，而大王亲自跟惠施交好，这 就是欺蹁张仪6我认为大王这么做是不可取的。惠施因为张仪的缘故 来到这里，使得大王跟张仪的交情恶化，惠施一定不会这么做的。而且 宋王认为惠施贤能，天下的人都听说了。如今惠施和张仪关系不好，天 下人也没有不知道的。现在大王为了这件事情，把您尊贵的客人推向 自己的敌人，我觉得大王这么做太轻率了。那如何处理这件事呢？大 王不如将惠施推荐到宋国去，而对张仪说广我是因为您才不肯接纳他 的。’张仪一定会感激大王。惠施正处于穷途末路，而大王举荐了他，他 也一定会感激大王。这样一来，既不失去跟张仪的交情，又可以让惠施 感恩戴德。”楚怀王说：“好主意Z于是就把惠施推荐到了宋国。
Feng Hao told the king，“It was Zhang Yi who has driven Hui Shi out of Wei. Now you are very close to Hui. Thus you will hurt Zhang Yi? s feelings. I don't think it is wise for you to do so, Hui Shi has come here because of Zhang Yi. However, Hui Shi doesn’t want to harm the relationship between you and Zhang Yi because of him. In addition，the sovereign of Song considers Hui Shi a wise and capable person, and people all over the world have heard of this. Now Hui Shi and Zhang Yi are at odds with each other, and people all over the world know that too. Now due to this matter, you are going to discard the person you cherish the most (referring to Zhang Yi) and therefore give him the chance to serve your enemies, I personally think it is very indiscreet for you to do so- How should we deal with this matter then? I think you’d better recommend Hui Shi to Song’s sovereign. Then you can tell Zhang Yi，‘I refuse to take him because I don’t want to hurt your feelings,，Thus Zhang Yi will be very grateful to you. As for Hui Shi, since he has no place to go，if you recommend him to Song，he will be grateful to you too. Thus not only will you avoid hurting Zhang Yi?s feelings, you can also do Hui Shi a favour." The king said, “Good idea- ” Then he recommended Hui Shi to Song and Song accepted Hui Shi.
