Five States Attacked Qin
【原文】
五国伐秦，魏欲和，使惠施之楚。楚将入之秦而使行和，杜赫谓昭 阳曰凡为伐秦者，楚也。今施以魏来，而公人之秦，是明楚之伐而信 魏之和也。公不如无听惠施，而阴使人以请听秦.”昭子曰善。”因谓 惠施臼‘凡为攻秦者，魏也。今子从楚为和，楚得其利，魏受其怨。子 归，吾将使人因魏而和。”惠子反，魏王不说。
【今译】
五个国家联合起来攻打秦国，魏国想讲和，派惠施来到楚国。楚国 将要让他到秦国去讲和，杜赫对昭阳说主张攻打秦国的是楚国。如 今惠施从魏国来，而您让他去秦国，这样一来，就明确表示了楚国要进 攻秦国而魏国真心讲和。您不如不听从惠施，而暗地里派人跟秦国讲 和来拉拢它。”昭阳说好。”于是就对惠施说：“主张进攻秦国的是魏 国。如今您站在楚国的立场上跟秦国讲和，楚国会受益，魏国会怨恨 您。您回去吧，我将派人通过魏国跟秦国讲和^惠施返回魏国，魏王很不高兴 .

杜赫谓昭阳臼魏为子先战，折兵之半，谒病不听，请和不得，魏折 而人齐、秦，子何以救之？东有越累，北无晋，而交未定于齐、秦，是楚孤也。不如速和。”昭子曰广善因令人谒和于魏。
