汗明见春申君
Han Ming Met Lord Chunshen
【原文】
汗明见春申君，候问三月，而后得见.谈卒，春申君大说之。汗明 欲复谈，春申君曰：“仆已知先生，先生（大）[休]息矣。”汗明僦焉曰明 愿有问君而恐固。不审君之圣孰与尧也？”春申君曰先生过矣，臣何 足以当尧？”汗明曰然则君料臣孰与舜？”春申君tl:“先生即舜也。”汗 明“不然，臣请为君终言之。君之贤实不如尧，臣之能不及舜。夫以 贤舜事圣尧，三年而后乃相知也。今君一时而知臣，是君圣于尧，而臣贤于舜也。”春申君曰：“善。”召门吏为汗先生著客籍，五日一见。
【今译】
汗明求见春申君，等候了三个月，才有机会见到。交谈完毕，春申 君非常欣赏他。汗明想继续交谈，春申君说我已经了解先生了，先生 休息一下吧。”汗明不安地说道：“我有一个问题想请问您，却担心问得 大唐突。不知道您跟尧相比，谁更圣明？”春申君说广先生错了，我怎么 能够跟尧相比呢？”汗明说那么您认为我跟舜相比，谁更有才能呢？” 春申君说广您跟舜一样有才能。”汗明说不是这样的，请让我为您把 话说完,论贤能，您实际比不上尧；论才能，我比不上舜。凭着贤 能的舜侍奉圣明的尧，三年以后他们才互相了解对方。现在您一下子就了解我了，这就是说您比尧圣明而我比舜更有才能啊春申君说: “说得好。”找来负责守卫的官吏，把汗明的名字登记在宾客簿上，五天 跟他见一次面。
Han Ming wanted to pay a visit to Lord Chunshen, but he didn’t obtain a chance to meet the lord till three months later. After they finished talking，Lord Chunshen appreciated Han Ming very much. Han Ming wanted to talk with him further, but the lord said, “Now that I have known you，you can go back and have a rest.” Han Ming felt very disappointed and said, “I want to ask you a question but don’t know whether or not it is too brusque to ask such a question. Who do you think is wiser，you or Yao?” Lord Chunshen said，“You are wrong* How can I be mentioned in the same breath with Yao?” Han Ming asked further, “Who do you think is more capable, Shun or I?” Lord Chunshen said，“You are as capable as Shun,” Han Ming said, “You are wrong. Please allow me to finish my words. In fact，you are not as wise as Yao，and I am not as capable as Shun. However, though Yao was wise and Shun was capable, when Shun worked for Yao, Yao didn’t realize his capability untill three years later. Now that you have known me for a short while，we can draw the conclusion that you are wiser than Yao and I am more capablc than Shun. ” Lord Chunshen said, “I see. ” Then he ordered I he officer in charge of defence to register Mr Han as one of his guests. And they met each other once every five days.
【原文】
汗明曰君亦闻骥乎？夫骥之齿至矣，服盐车而上太行。蹄申膝 折，尾湛跗溃，漉汁洒地，汗交流，中阪迁延，负辕不能上。伯乐遭之， 下车攀而哭之，解泞衣以幂之。骥于是俯而喷，仰而鸣，声达于天，若出 金石声者，何也？彼见伯乐之知己也。今仆之不肖，阨于州部堀穴穷 巷，沉袴鄙俗之日久矣，君独无意湔拔仆也，使得为君高鸣屈于梁乎？”
【今译】
汗明说广您听说过骧的故事吗？骥成年以后，拉着车攀登大行 山。它伸着蹄子、弯着腿拉车，尾巴低垂，蹄掌溃烂，流出的口水拖到地 上*全身大汗淋漓，中途停下来，驾着车辕不能前进。伯乐遇见它，下了 车抚摸着它哭泣，脱下自己的麻布衣服給它披上。于是骥低头喷气，仰 头鸣叫，声音响彻云霄，如同金玉互相撞击一般，为什么会这样？骐发 现伯乐是个知己。如今我没有出息，处在底层，境遇困顿，住在陋巷，被 鄙陋的习俗熏染已经很长时间了，您难道不想推荐提拔我，让我为您 高声申诉在楚国所受的冤屈吗？”
Han Ming said, u Have you heard the story of Ji (the name of a swift horse in Chinese legend)? After Ji grew up, it pulled a cart of salt to climb Mount Taihang. Its tail hanging, it extended its hooves to move forward. Its hooves rankled, its spittle dribbled to the ground, and it became sweaty and could not go further. It stopped halfway. When Bo Le saw the horse，he got off his carriage, pulled its rein and started to cry. He then took off his clothes and put them on the animal, Ji lowered its head to sniff. Then it looked up towards the sky and neighed- The sound echoed to the skies and was like gold and jade bumping into each other. Why? Because it realized that Bo Le was a confidant. I am very unworthy. 1 am of very low status, live in a poor area and have been used to indecent customs for a long time. Don，t you intend to recommend me and appoint me to a suitable position so that I can announce the grievance you have experienced here in the state of Chu?"
