齐人李伯见孝成王
Li Bo from Qi Visited King Xiaocheng
【原文】
齐人李伯见孝成王。成王说之，以为代郡守.而居无几何，人告之 反。孝成王方馈，不堕食。无几何，告者复至，孝成王不应。已，乃使使 者言齐举兵击燕，恐其以击燕为名而以兵袭赵，故发兵自备。今燕、 齐已合，臣请要其敝，而地可多割自是之后，为孝成王从事于外者，无 自疑于中者。
【今译】
齐国人李伯去拜见孝成王，孝成王很欣赏他，让他做代郡的长官。 然而没过多衣时间，有人告李伯谋反&孝成王正在吃饭，却没有停下来 而继续用餐。又过了没多长时间，报告李伯谋反的人又来了，孝成王不 理睬他。又过了一些时候，李伯就派使者报告孝成王说齐国派兵进 攻燕国，我担心它以进攻燕国为借口出兵攻打起国，所以浪兵自卫。如 今燕国和齐国的军队已经开始交战，我请求拦截攻击两军中疲惫不堪 的一方，就可以多分割一些土地。”从这以后，为孝成王在外面做事的人，没有在心中怀疑孝成王对自己的信任的。
Li Bo, a man from the state of Qi, paid a visit to King Xiaocheng of the state of Zhao. King Xiaocheng appreciated him very much and appointed him to be commanding officer of the province of Dai, Shortly after that, someone told the king that Li Bo would stir up a rebellion. King Xiaocheng was having a meal at that time,but he didn?t stop eating. After a short period，the messenger came again, but King Xiaocheng didn’t speak to him. After some time, Li Bo sent an emissary to report to the king as follows： “Recently, the state of Qi sent its troops to attack the state of Yan- I was afraid that they might launch military operations against our state in the name of attacking Yan, So I deployed our troops to safeguard our territory. Now the two armies of Yan and Qi have already engaged in warfare. Please allow me to attack the exhausted side，so that we can obtain more land. From then on, among all the officials and officers who were sent to work outside the capital, no one would doubt that the king was sceptical about his loyalty.
