冯忌为庐陵君谓赵王
Feng Ji Had a Talk with Zhao' s King on Lord Luling's Behalf
【原文】
冯忌为庐陵君谓赵王曰王之逐^庐陵君，为燕也？ ”王曰：“吾所以 重者，无燕，秦也。”对曰秦三以虞卿为言，而王不逐也；今燕一以庐陵 君为言，而王逐之。是王轻强秦而重弱燕也王曰吾非为燕也，吾固 将逐之。”“然则王逐庐陵君又不为燕也。行逐爱弟，又兼无燕（秦），臣 窃为大王不取也。”
【今译】
冯忌为庐陵君对赵王说广大王驱逐了庐陵君，是因为燕国的缘故 吗？”赵王说我所看重的不是燕国，而是秦国冯忌回答说秦国多 次让虞卿替它说话，而大王却没有驱逐他；如今燕国一让庐陵君替它说 话，大王就驱逐了他。这表明大王轻视强大的秦国而重视弱小的燕 国。”赵王说：“我不是因为燕国的缘故，我本来就打算驱逐他。”“这样一来，大王驱逐庐陵君还不是因为燕国的缘故,驱逐自己的亲弟弟，又无 视燕国，我私下认为大王这么做是不可取的。”
On Lord Luling’s behalf, Feng Ji had a talk with the king of the state of Zhao and said, “Your Majesty, did you exile Lord Luling because of the state of Yan?” The king said，“The state I attach importance to is the state of Qin. I pay no attention to the state of Yan. ” Feng Ji replied, “Qin has expressed its wishes through Yu Qing several times, but you haven’t exiled him. However，once Yan expressed its wishes through Lord Luling，you exiled him. So it shows that Your Majesty looks down upon the powerful Qin and attaches importance to the weak Yan, ” The king said，“I didn’t exile him because of the state of Yan, I have been thinking of exiling him before, ” “Then，Your Majesty didn’t drive Lord Luling out of our state because of Yan Personally, I think it is very unwise to exile your younger brother and also pay no attention to Yan. ”
