秦使王翦攻赵
Qin Sent Wang Jian to Attack Zhao
【原文】
秦使王翦攻赵，赵使李牧、司马尚御之。李牧数破走秦军，杀秦将 桓畸。王翦恶之，乃多与赵王宠臣郭开等金，使为反间，曰李牧、司马尚欲与秦反赵，以多取封于秦。”赵王疑之，使赵签及颜最代将，斩李牧， 废司马尚。后三月，王翦因急击，大破赵，杀赵军，虏赵王迁及其将颜 最，遂灭赵。
【今译】
秦国派王翦进攻赵国，赵王派李牧、司马尚率兵抵抗秦军^李牧屡 次将秦军击敗、击退，杀死秦军将领桓销.王翁很讨厌他，于是就送给赵王宠臣郭开等人很多金子，让他们从事反间活动，说李牧和司马尚想跟秦国反叛赵国，以便从秦国领取更多的封赏。”赵王对他们起了疑 心，派赵怎和颜最取代他们为将军，杀了李牧，罢免了司马尚。三个月 后，王翦趁机发动猛烈进攻，大大击敗了赵军，杀死赵怎，俘虏了赵王迁以及他的将领颜最，于是消灭了赵国。
The state of Qin sent Wang Jian to lead troops to attack the state of Zhao, Zhao designated Li Mu and Sima Shang to command its armies to confront the invading troops. Li Mu defeated the enemy troops several times, forced them to retreat，and also killed Huan Yi,one of the enemy generals. Wang Jian hated these two people, so he bribed Guo Kai and other beloved court officials of the king of Zhao with a lot of gold and asked them to sow discord between Li Mu and Sima Shang and the king of Zhao by declaring，“In order to gain more rewards from the state of Qin, Li Mu and Sima Shang are going to join Qin in acting against our state. The king of Zhao became distrustful of them, so he sent General Zhao Cong and General Yan Zui to replace them. After that, he killed Li Mu and dismissed Sima Shang from office. Three months later，Wang Jian took occasion to launch violent attacks on Zhao, badly defeating the troops of Zhao, killing Zhao Cong and capturing King Qian of Zhao as well as Zhao Cong. As a result, the state of Zhao was ruined.
