韩赵相难
Han and Zhao Antagonized Each Other
【原文】
韩、赵相难。韩索兵于魏曰广愿得借师以伐赵。”魏文侯曰寡人 与赵兄弟，不敢从。”赵又索兵以攻韩，文侯曰寡人与韩兄弟，不敢 从。”二国不得兵，怒而反。已，乃知文侯以讲于己也，皆朝魏。
【今译】
韩国和赵国互相为敌。韩国派人到魏国去请求救兵，说希望能 派兵增援我们攻打赵国。”魏文候说我跟赵王是兄弟，不敢听从命 令赵国又派人请求救兵进攻韩国，魏文侯说我跟韩王是兄弟，不敢 听从命令。”韩国和赵国的使者得不到救兵，愤怒地回去了。过了一段 时间，才知道魏文侯是以此为自己讲和，就都到魏国去朝拜。
The state of Han and the state of Zhao antagonized each other. Han asked the state of Wei for reinforcements and said，“Please send some troops to help us attack Zhao,” Marquis Wen of Wei said, “The king of Zhao and I are brothers. I dare not follow your order.”Then Zhao also asked for reinforcements to attack Han. Marquis Wen said， “The king of Han and I are brothers. I dare not follow your order,” As these two states couldn’t obtain reinforcements from Wei，their messengers returned. They both became angry. However，after some time，they realized that Marquis Wen was trying to help them reach a ceasefire. So they both went to the court of Wei to pay homage to the marquis.
