Marquis Wen of Wei Had an Appointment with a Hunter
【原文】
文侯与庚人期猎。是日，饮酒乐，天雨。文侯将出，左右曰今日 饮酒乐，天又雨，公将焉之?”文侯曰吾与虞人期猎，虽乐，岂可不一会 期哉？”乃往，身自罢之。魏于是乎始强
【今译】
魏文侯跟一个猎人相约一起打猎。到了约定的那一天，魏文侯正 在饮酒，气氛非常愉快，天空中也下着雨。魏文侯将要出门，他身边的 人说今天饮酒，气氛非常快乐，天又下着雨，您要到哪里去？”魏文侯 说广我跟猎人约好一起打猎，虽然我们现在的宴饮很快乐，但难道可以 不赴约吗？”于是就赴约前往打猎，直到自己筋疲力尽。魏国从此开始 强盛起来。
Marquis Wen of Wei made an appointment with a hunter that they would go hunting together. On the appointed day, the marquis held a banquet and the atmosphere of it was very happy. It also rained- Marquis Wen was going to leave. People around him asked, “Now we are enjoying the banquet very much and it is raining outside. Where are you going， Sir?" Marquis Wen said, “I have made an appointment with a hunter and promised to go hunting with him. Even though the atmosphere of the banquet is very good, how can I break my word!” He then went to meet the hunter and didn’t return until he was exhausted. The state of Wei became stronger and stronger after that.
