Wei Ordered Gongsun Yan to Make Peace with Qin
【原文】
魏令公孙衍请和于秦，綦毋恢教之语曰：“无多割。曰，和成，固有 秦重和，以与王遇；和不成，则后必莫能以魏合于秦者矣.”
【今译】
魏国让公孙衍请求跟秦国和解，綦毋恢指点他说：“不要割让太多 土地。和谈成功，秦王定会重视我们，会跟我们大王会晤；和谈不成功， 那以后一定没有人能使魏国跟秦国联合了。”
The state of Wei ordered Gongsun Yan to seek the chance to make peace with the state of Qin. Qiwu Hui consulted with Gongsun Yan and said, “Don’t cede too much land to Qin. If you can reach a ceasefire with Qin, Qin will attach importance to our state and therefore agree to meet our sovereign. If you fail, no one else will succeed in making Qin and Wei build an alliance with each other in the future.”
