徐州之役
The War in Xuzhou
【原文】
徐州之役，犀首谓梁王曰何不阳与齐而阴结于楚？ 二国恃王， 齐、楚必战。齐战胜楚，而与乘之，必取方城之外；楚战胜齐（败），而与 乘之，是太子之仇报矣。”
【今译】
徐州战役中，公孙衍对魏王说为何不表面上假装跟齐国交好而 暗地里结交楚国呢？齐国和楚国倚仗大王的支持，必定会开战。如果 齐国战胜了楚国，就跟它一起掠夺楚国，一定能取得方城以外的地区； 如果楚国取胜而齐国失败了，就跟它一起掠夺齐国，这样一来，就能为 太子报仇了
During the war in Xazhou, Gongsun Yan had a talk with the king of the state of Wei and said，“Why not ally with the state of Qi superficially, but secretly establish good relations with the state of Chu at the same time? If they both think they have won over your support，Qi and Chu will engage in a war. If Qi defeats Chu，we can join it in overrunning Chu, so we can definitely seize the areas around Fangcheng. If Chu defeats Qi，we can join it in invading Qi, thus we can take revenge for our crown prince. ”
