魏王令惠施之楚
The King of Wei Sent Hui Shi to Chu
【原文】
魏王令惠施之楚，令犀首之齐,钧二子者乘数，（钧）将测交也。楚 王闻之，施因令人先之楚，言曰魏令犀首之齐，惠施之楚，钧二子者，将测交也。”楚王闻之，因郊迎惠施。
【今译】
魏王命令惠施出使楚国，命令公孙衍出使齐国，给两人安排了數目 相等的车子，目的是试探两国跟魏国交情的深浅。于是惠施派一个人先到楚国报信说魏王派公孙衍到齐国，派惠施到楚国，给两人安排了數目相同的车子，将以此试探两国跟魏国的交情。”楚王听说这个情况 后，就赶到郊外迎接惠施。
The king of the state of Wei was going to send Hui Shi to the slate of Chu and Gongsun Yan to the state of Qi, In order to test which state was closer to Wei，the king deliberately had the same number of carriages prepared for the two of them. Then Hui Shi sent someone to Chu first and the man announced, “The king of the stale of Wei is going to send Gongsun Yan and Hui Shi on diplomatic missions to Qi and Chu respectively. In order to test which state is closer to Wei, the king had the same number of carriages prepared for the two of them. ” After the king of Chu heard this, he went to the suburbs to welcome Hui Shi in person.
