魏惠王起境内众
King Hui Mobilized the Masses of His State
【原文】
魏惠王起境内众，将太子申而攻齐。客谓公子理之（传）[傅]曰: “何不令公子泣王太后，止太子之行？事成则树德，不成则为王矣。太 子年少，不习于兵,田（朌）[盼],宿将也，而孙子善用兵，战必不胜，不 胜必禽。公子争之于王，王听公子，公子（不）[必]封；不听公子，太子必 败。败，公子必立；立，必为王也。
【今译】
魏惠王发动起国内民众，任用太子申为将军进攻齐国。有个客人 对公子理的老师说为什么不让公子到王太后那里哭泣，阻止太子行 军打仗？事情成了就能让太子感恩戴德，不成就能当上国君了。太子 年纪轻轻，不撞长用兵。田盼是名老将，而且孙子善于用兵。如果交 战，一定不能取胜。不能取胜，就一定会被擒获。公子到大王那里去劝 止，大王听公子的，公子一定会受封；不听公子的，太子一定会战敗。战 敗了，公子必定会被立为太子。立为太子，就必定能当上君主了
King Hui of the state of Wei mobilized the masses of his state and appointed Crown Prince Shen to be Commander-in-Chief to attack the state of Qi. A guest had a talk with the Grand Tutor of Childe Li and said, “Why not ask the childe to cry before the queen mother to stop the crown prince from joining the attacking army? If his advice is taken，the crown prince will be grateful to him. If not，he will be enthroned to be the next king. The crown prince is too young to be familiar with tactics. Tian Pan is a very experienced general, and Sunzi is good at tactics. Certainly we will lose the war. In this case，the crown prince will be captured. If the childe remonstrates with the king and his advice is taken, he will be rewarded. If his advice is not taken, the crown prince will definitely lose the war, and therefore, the childe will be appointed to be crown prince himself. As a result, he will definitely be enthroned. ”
