Qin United with Zhao to Attack Wei
【原文】
秦、赵约而伐魏，魏王患之。芒卯曰广王勿忧也。臣请发张倚使谓 赵王曰：‘夫邺，寡人固（刑〉[形]弗有也。今大王收秦而攻魏，寡人请以 邺事大王。
【今译】
秦国和赵国联合起来进攻魏国，魏王担心此事。芒卯说：“大王不 用担忧。请让我派张倚对赵王说：‘邺地，我势必不能拥有，现在如果大 王不联合秦国来进攻魏国，我请求把邺地献给大王。’”
The state of Qin united with the state of Zhao to attack the state of Wei，and the king of Wei worried about it. Mang Mao said，“Your Majesty, please don，t worry. Please let me send Zhang Yi to inform the king of Zhao as follows： ‘As for the region of Ye, I cannot maintain it anyway. If Your Majesty don，t ally with Qin to attack Wei, please let me present you with the region of Ye. ”，

赵王喜，召相国而命之曰魏王请以邺事寡人，使寡人绝秦。’’相国 曰：“收秦攻魏，利不过邺。今不用兵而得邺，请许魏。”张倚因谓赵王 曰敝邑之吏效城者，已在邺矣。大王且何以报魏?”赵王因令闭关绝 秦。秦、赵大恶^
【今译】
赵王很高兴，召见相国并命令他说魏王请求把邺地献给我，让我 跟秦国绝交。”相国说跟秦国联合进攻魏国，得到的利益也不过是占 领邺。如今无需用兵就能得到邺，请答应魏国。”于是张倚对赵王说: “鄙国进献邺城的官吏已经在邺地了。大王将如何报答魏国呢？”于是 赵王下令关闭边境，跟秦国断绝关系。秦国和赵国互相之间非常仇视 对方。
The king of Zhao was very happy, so he called in the prime minister and issued an order to him： “In order to make me cut off our ties with the state of Qin, the king of Wei has offered me the region of Ye. ” The prime minister said，“If we ally with Qin to attack Wei，we can merely take over Ye. Now we can obtain Ye without taking military action. Please agree with Wei* ” Then Zhang Yi told the king of Zhao, “The officer in charge of handing over Ye has already been there. What will Your Majesty do for us in return?” As a result, the king of Zhao ordered to close the border and cut off relations with Qin. Therefore, Qin and Zhao became very hostile towards each other.

芒卯应赵使曰敝邑所以事大王者，为完邺也。今（郊）[效]邺者， 使者之罪也，卯不知也。”赵王恐魏承秦之怒，遽割五城以合于魏而支秦
【今译】
芒卯回复赵国的使者说：“鄙国所用来侍奉大王的，就是保全邺地。 如今进献邶地是使者的罪过，我不知道有这么回事。”赵王害怕魏国会因为秦国的恼怒而趁机跟它联合，立即割让五座城邑跟魏国联合来对 抗秦国。
