Zheng Qiang Carried Eight Hundred Yi of Gold in a Carriage to Qin
【原文】
郑强载八百金入秦，请以伐韩。泠向谓郑强曰公以八百金请伐 人之与国，秦必不听公，公不如令秦王疑公叔。”郑强曰：“何如？”曰: “公叔之攻楚也，以几瑟之存焉+故言先楚也。今已令楚王奉几瑟以车 百乘居阳翟，令昭献转而与之处，旬有余，彼已觉。而几瑟，公叔之仇也；而昭献，公叔之人也。秦王闻之，必疑公叔为楚也
【今译】
郑强用车装栽着八百镒黄金来到秦国，请求秦国进攻韩国。泠向 对郑强说您凭着八百镒黄金请秦国进攻自己的盟国，秦王一定不会 听您的,您不如让秦王对公叔产生怀疑。”郑强问怎么办呢？”泠向 说公叔之所以进攻楚国，是因为几瑟在那里的缘故，所以扬言首先进 攻楚国。现在假如您让楚王供给几瑟一百辆车子，让他住到阳翟，让昭 献到那里跟他共处，十几天后，公叔就会察觉了。而几瑟是公叔的仇人，昭献是公叔的自己人。秦王听说了这件事，一定会怀疑公叔在为楚 国做事。”
Zheng Qiang carried eight hundred yi of gold in a carriage to bribe the state of Qin. He asked Qin to send troops to attack the state of Han. Ling Xiang had a talk with Zheng Qiang and said, “You are trying to bribe the king of Qin with eight hundred yi of gold and thereby ask him to attack his ally. He will certainly not take your advice. It would be better if you make the king of Qin suspicious of Gongshu. ” Zheng Qiang asked, “How can I make him suspicious of Gongshu then?” Ling Xiang said，“Gongshu wants to attack the state of Chu because Ji Se is there，so he will declare war against Chu first. If you can ask the king of Chu to present Ji Se with one hundred carriages and send him to Yangdi，and then send Zhao Xian there to stay with Ji Se, Gongshu will know it within ten days. Ji Se is Gongshu’s personal enemy. And Zhao Xian is on the side of Gongshu. When the king of Qin hears of this，he will definitely doubt that Gongshu intends to help the state of Chu by so doing. ”
