The Troops of Qin Attacked Jing
【原文】
秦攻陉，韩使人驰南阳之地。秦已驰，又攻陉，韩因割南阳之地. 秦受地，又攻陉。陈轸谓秦王曰国形不便，故驰；交不亲，故割。今割 矣而交不亲，驰矣而兵不止，臣恐山东之无以驰割事王者矣。且王求百 金于三川而不可得，求千金于韩，一旦而具。今王攻韩，是绝上交而固私府也，窃为王弗取也。”
【今译】
秦国军队进攻陉，韩国派人用南阳地区跟秦国交换土地,秦国已 经交换了土地，又进攻陉，于是韩国把南阳地区割让给了秦国。秦国接 受了这片土地，又进攻陉。陈轸对秦王说国家形势不利，所以跟我们 交换土地。交换了土地还不能跟我们建立密切关系，所以割让土地给 我们。如今土地已经割让了而交情还是不密切，土地已经交换了但是 还没有停止用兵，我担心山东各国不会通过交換或者割让土地来侍奉 大王了，再说大王向三川地区索要一百镒黄金都不能得到，向韩国索 要一千镒黄金，很快就能获得。如今大王进攻韩国，这就是断绝跟我们关系最好的国家的交情而且枯竭了我们自己的宝库，我私下认为大王 这么做是不可取的。”
The troops of the state of Qin attacked the city of Jing of the state of Han. Han sent someone to exchange the area of Nanyang for some land of the state of Qin. Moreover, once you demanded the people of the region of Sanchuan to present you with one hundred yi of gold but could not force them to do so. However, you received one thousand yi of gold from the state of Han shortly after your order was issued to it. Now you are attacking Han, This will lead to nothing but the cutting of our ties with our best ally as well as exhausting the resources of our own depot C referring to the state of Han. The king of Qin can obtain anything he wants from Han, so Han is regarded as a depot of Qin), I personally think you should not do so.”
