The War in Yiyang
【原文】
宜阳之役，杨达谓公孙显曰广请为公以五万攻西周，得之，是以九 鼎印甘茂也.不然，秦攻西周，天下恶之，其救韩必疾，则茂事败矣。”
【今译】
宜阳战役中，杨达对公孙显说广请让我为您用五万军队进攻西周， 战胜了它，就能占有九鼎来抑制甘茂的势力。即使不能战胜，秦军进攻 西埤，天下各国讨厌秦国这么做，一定会迅速起兵营救韩国，那甘茂的事情就被败坏了。”
During the war in Yiyang, Yang Da had a talk with Gongsun Xian and said，“Please allow me to lead fifty thousand soldiers to attack the state of West Zhou for you. If I defeat it，you can use the Nine Cauldrons to restrain Gan Mao’s power. If I cannot defeat it, other states in the world will hate the troops of Qin for attacking the West Zhou. So they will come to Han’s rescue (this refers to the troops of other states who will come to Yiyang's rescue because Yiyang is located on their way to West Zhou- Therefore, if they are to rescue the West Zhou, they will save Yi Yang first).
