Someone Suggested to Wei's King That He Order AH the People in the State to be on High Alert
【原文】
或谓魏王：“王儆四强之内，其从于王者，十日之内，备不具者死。 王因取其游之舟上击之，臣为王之楚，王胥臣反，乃行春申君闻之， 谓使者曰子为我反，无见王矣。十日之内，数万之众，今涉魏境。”秦 使闻之，以告秦王。秦王谓魏王曰大国有意必来，以是而足矣。”
【今译】
有人对魏王说：“大王告诫四方边境之内的民众，凡是应当携带兵 器跟随大王征战的十天之内就准备好，准备不充分的就要被处死。于 是大王就解下旌旗上的枫带系在车子上。我为大王出使楚国，大王等 我回来才出征春申君听说了这件事，对使者说：“您给我回去吧，不要 见大王了。十天之内，几万大军马上就进入魏国境内了。”秦国的使者 听说了此事，就报告了秦王。秦王对魏王说贵国有意来进攻我们，这 些军队就足够了.”
Someone had a talk with the king of the state of Wei and said，“Please warn the people all over the state to be on high alert. Those who will follow you to the front with weapons should get ready within ten days. Those who fail to be prepared will be sentenced to death. Then you take off the flag tassel and fasten it to your chariot. I will leave for the state of Chu on a diplomatic mission on your behalf，but please do not depart until I return,” When Lord Chunshen heard this，he told the messenger, “Please go back to your state immediately and do not see my sovereign. I will send tens of thousands of soldiers to your state within ten days, ” When the emissary from the state of Qin heard this news，he reported it to the king of Qin. Then the king of Qin sent the following message to the king of Wei： “If you are about to dispatch your troops here to attack my state, I think these troops are enough.”
