观(鞅)[津人朱英]谓春申[君]
Zhu Ying Had a Talk with Lord Chunshen
【原文】
观(鞅)[津人朱英]谓春申[君]曰；“人皆以楚为强，而君用之弱。 其于（鞅）[英]也不然。先君者，二十余年未尝见攻。今秦欲逾兵于渑隘之塞，不（使）[便];假道两周倍韩以攻楚，不可，今则不然，魏且旦暮楚斗之日也已。”
【今译】
观津人朱英对春申君说：“人们都认为楚国强大，而在您执政的时 候就削弱了。对我来说却不是这样的。先君在位的时候，二十多年都没有遭到别国入侵。秦国军队想派兵越过黾塞（进攻楚国），不便于这 么做；想借道东、西周绕过韩国来进攻楚国，是不可能的。如今却不是 这样的。魏国马上就要灭亡了，不能爱惜它的许、鄢陵与梧等地区，把 它们割让给秦国，秦国距离楚国一百六十里的路程。我所预见的是，秦 国和楚国开战的日子很快就要到了
Zhu Ying，a man from the area of Guanjin, had a talk with Lord Chunshen and said，“People think that the state of Chu used to be strong but has declined since you took over the regime. But I don’t agree with them. When our deceased sovereign was in power, our state had suffered no aggression for more than twenty years. It was not convenient for the troops of the state of Qin to march through the Fortification of Mian to attack our state. Nor was it possible for them to cross both the West Zhou and the East Zhou and bypass the state of Han to attack Chu, However，nowadays the situation is not the Same. The end of the state of Wei is within sight. It can no longer maintain the areas of Xu, Yanling and Wu. If it cedes these areas to Qin, Qin will be only one hundred and sixty li away from our state. I can foresee that the state of Qin and the state of Chu will engage in warfare very soon. ”
