公叔将杀几瑟
Gongshu Was Going to Kill Ji Se
【原文】
公叔将杀几瑟也。谓公叔臼太子之重公也，畏几瑟也。今几瑟 死，太子无患，必轻公。韩大夫见王老，冀太子之用事也，固欲事之。太 子外无几瑟之患，而内收诸大夫以自辅也，公必轻矣。不如无杀几瑟以 恐太子，太子必终身重公矣。”
【今译】
公叔将要杀死几瑟，有人对公叔说太子之所以重视您，是因为害 怕几瑟的缘故。如果把几瑟杀了，太子没有什么忧患了，就一定会轻视 您。韩国的大夫们看到韩王年纪太大了，希望太子执政，本来就想侍奉他,太子在外面没有几瑟所带来的忧患，并且在国内拉扰诸位大臣来 巩固自己的地位，您的地位一定会降低的。不如别杀几瑟来威胁太子， 太子必定一生都会重视您的。”
Gongshu was going to kill Ji Se, Because of this， someone had a talk with Gongshu and said，“The reason that the crown prince attaches importance to you is that he fears Ji Se. If you kill Ji Se，the crown prince can be free from trouble. Therefore, he will definitely not attach much importance to you. When the high-ranking court officials of the state of Han realize that the king is getting old，they will hope the crown prince can take over the regime. Therefore, they will certainly be at his service. In this case，the crown prince is no longer under threat from Ji Se, so he will buy off those high-ranking court officials to make them work for him. Thus you will definitely become less powerful and influential. Hence，you’d better not kill Ji Se but utilize him to pose a threat to the crown prince. As a result, the crown prince will attach importance to you for the rest of his life. ”
