韩咎立为君而未定
Han Jiu Was Enthroned but Had Not Consolidated His Power
【原文】
韩咎立为君而未定也，其弟在周，周欲以车百乘重而送之，恐韩咎 人韩之不立也D綦毋恢曰不如以吉金从之。韩咎立，因（也）[曰]以 为戒；不立，则曰来效贼也。”
【今译】
韩国公子咎被立为君主，然而他的权势还没有得到巩固。他的弟 弟在周国，周国想用一百辆车子隆重地送他回国，担心公子咎的君位不 稳固。綦毋恢说：“不如再让他带上一百镒黄金。公子咎的王位巩固 了，就说是为了防范成备；不巩固，就说是献给新国君的。”
Han Jiu, also known as Chiide Jiu, was enthroned to be the new sovereign of the state of Han，but he had not consolidated his power. His younger brother was in the state of West Zhou. The sovereign of West Zhou wanted to prepare a hundred carriages for him and send him back to Han with great ceremony. However, the sovereign feared that Han Jiu’s authority was not well established. Qiwu Hui said，“It would be better if we send him back with one hundred yi of gold in addition. If Han Jiu’s authority is well established， he can say that he has taken the gold to protect himself in case of danger. If Han Jiu’s authority is not established, he can say that he has taken the gold to support the next ruler in future.”
