韩(人)[珉]攻宋
The Troops of Han Attacked Song
【原文】
韩（人）[珉]攻宋，秦王大怒，曰广吾爱宋，与新城、阳晋同也。韩瑕 与我交，而攻我甚所爱，何也？”苏秦为（韩)[齐]说秦王曰韩珉之攻 宋，所以为王也。以（韩）[齐]之强，辅之以宋，楚、魏必恐，恐必西面事秦。王不折一兵，不杀一人，无事而割安邑，此韩珉之所以祷于秦也。” 秦王曰t “吾固患（韩）[齐]之难知，一从一横，此其说何也？ ”对曰：“天下 固令（韩）[齐]可知也。（韩）[齐]故已攻宋矣，其西事秦，以万乘自辅; 不西事秦，则宋地不安矣.中国白头游敖之士，皆积智欲离秦、（韩） [齐]之交。伏轼结靭西驰者，未有一人言善（韩）[齐]者也；伏轼结蚓东 驰者，未有一人言善秦者也。皆不欲（韩）[齐]、秦之合者，何也？则晋、 楚智而（韩）[齐]、秦愚也。晋、楚合，必伺（韩）[齐]、秦；（韩>[齐]、秦 合，必图晋、楚。请以决事。”秦王曰广善。”
【今译】
韩珉为齐国进攻宋国，秦王十分恼怒，说我爱借宋国跟爱惜新 城、阳晋是一样的。韩珉跟我交好，却进攻我所珍爱的地区，为什么 呢？”苏秦为齐国游说秦王道韩珉进攻宋国，是为了大王啊。凭着齐国的强大，再加上宋国的势力，楚国和魏国一定会恐惧，恐惧了就会向西侍奉秦国。大王不用损耗一个士卒，不用杀害一个百姓，没有任何战 事就能割取安邑，这就是韩珉所为秦国祈祷的。”秦王说：“我本来就觉 得齐国难以捉摸，一会儿合纵，一会儿连横，这该怎么解释呢？”苏秦回 答说天下各国已经让齐国变得能够知晓了。齐国已经进攻宋国了， 它向西侍奉秦国，就是要靠拥有一万辆战车的国家来辅助自己；不向西 侍奉秦国，那它所夺得的宋国土地也不得安宁。中原地区头发花白的 说客都处心积虑地想离间秦国和齐国之间的交情，乘车向西奔驰的， 没有一个人声称要跟齐国交好；乘车向东奔驰的，没有一个人声称要跟 秦国交好。都不愿意秦国和齐国交好，为什么呢？因为韩、赵、魏和楚 国聪明而齐国和秦国愚蠢的缘故啊。韩、赵、魏和楚国联合起来了，一 定会伺机进攻齐国和秦国；齐国和秦国联合起来了，一定会图谋韩、赵、 魏和楚国。请您决断这件事。”秦王说：“好的。”
Han Min commanded the troops of the state of Han to attack the state of Song on behalf of the state of Qi. The king of the state of Qin became very angry at that and said，“I cherish the state of Song as much as I cherish the regions of Xincheng and Yangjn, Han Min has been a good friend of me. Why is he attacking the state I cherish so much?” On behalf of the state of Qi, Su Qin had a talk with the king of Qin and said，“Han Min is attacking the state of Song for your sake. Realizing the strength of Qi and the might of the state of Song, the state of Chu and the state of Wei will be afraid. Therefore，they will submit to your state in the west. Without losing a soldier，killing a person or launching an attack，you can obtain the region of Anyi, This is what Han Min has prayed for. ” The king of Qin said，“I knew that the state of Qi is very unreliable. Sometimes it joins Hezong, and at other times，it backs up Lianheng. What is Qi，s reason for taking this military action then?” Su Qin replied，“Other states in the world have already made the state of Qi reliable. Qi has already taken military action against the state of Song. In this regard, if it allies with the state of Qin in the west, it will be supported by this state which has ten thousand chariots. If it does not ally with the state of Qin, it will not be able to maintain the territory taken from the state of Song. Persuasive talkers with white hair from the central part of China all want to alienate the state of Qin and the state of Qi. None of those travelling to the west (referring to the state of Qin) by carriage says that you should establish good relations with the state of Qi. Similarly，none of those travelling to the east (referring to the state of Qi) by carriage says that it should establish good relations with the state of Qin. None of them want Qin and Qi to build an alliance with each other. Why? Because the states of Han, Zhao, Wei and Chu are wise and on the other hand，Qin and Qi are stupid. If Han， Zhao, Wei and Chu build an alliance，they will seek the chance to take advantage of Qin and Qi. If Qin and Qi build an alliance, they will scheme against Han, Zhao, Wei and Chu. Please make up your mind. ” The king of Qin said，“I see.”
