Someone Had a Talk with Han’s Prime Minister
【原文】
或谓韩相国曰人之所以善扁鹊者，为有臃肿也。使善扁鹊而无 臃肿也，则人莫之为之也。今君以所事善平原君者，为恶于秦也。而善 平原君，乃所以恶于秦也。愿君之熟计之也。”
【今译】
有人对韩相国说人们之所以善待扁鹊，是因为自己身上生了毒疮的缘故。假设人们没有生毒疮，就没有人会善待扁鹊了。如今平原 君能善待您，是因为秦国讨厌您的缘故。而您跟平原君关系友好，正是 秦国讨厌您的原因啊。希望您仔细考虑一下这件事。”
Someone had a talk with the prime minister of the state of Han and said, “The reason that people are good to Bian Que lies in the fact that they want him to remove the festering from their bodies. No one without any festers will treat Bian Que well. Now you have won over Lord Pingyuan due to your bad relations with the state of Qin. However- the state of Qin hates you because you are close to Lord Pingyuan. I hope that you will examine this situation. ”
