公仲使韩珉之秦求武隧
Gongzhong Sent Han Min to Qin to Ask for Wusui
【原文】
公仲使韩珉之秦求武隧，而恐楚之怒也。唐客谓公仲曰：“韩之事 秦也，且以求武隧也，非弊邑之所憎也。韩巳得武隧，其形乃可以善楚。 臣愿有言，而不敢为楚计：‘今韩之父兄得众者，毋相韩，不能独立，势必 不善楚。’王曰：‘吾欲以国辅韩珉而相之，可乎？父兄恶珉，珉必以国保 楚。’”公仲说，士唐客于诸公，而使之主韩、楚之事。
【今译】
公仲派韩珉到秦国去索要武隧，然而担心会激怒楚国。唐客对公 仲说韩国之所以侍奉秦国，是因为要索求武隧，这并非我们国家所憎 恨的。韩国得到武隧以后，才可以跟楚国交好。我想说说自己的看法， 但不敢为楚国作打算.‘如今韩国父兄受到众人拥戴的人做了韩国的 相国，能够独立，势必不会跟楚国亲善夕楚王说：‘我想用我的国家辅助 韩珉，让他做相国，可以吗？韩珉的父兄们讨厌他，韩珉一定会率领韩 国投靠楚国公仲高兴了，把唐客介绍给各位大臣，并且让他主持韩国和楚国之间的外交事宜。
Gongzhong wanted to send Han Min to the state of Qin to ask for the region of Wusui, but was afraid that the king of Chu might be angered. Tang Ke had a talk with Gongzhong and said, “The reason that the state of Han submits to the state of Qin lies in the fact that Han wants to gain the area of Wusui. This is not unacceptable to our state. After Han gains the area of Wusui, it can establish good relations with the state of Chu. I want to tell you something，but don’t dare plan for the state of Chu, ‘ If a person whose father and brothers are supported by the masses of Han is appointed to be prime minister of Han，Han will become independent, and therefore will definitely not establish good relations with the state of Chu. ’ The king said, ‘I am about to lead my state to support Han Min and make him prime minister of Han. Do you think I should do so? Han Min’s father and brothers dislike him, so he will definitely lead the state of Han to submit to the state of Chu. ”，Gongzhong was satisfied with these words, so he introduced Tang Ke to his high-ranking court officials and also asked him to administer the affairs between the state of Han and the state of Chu
